BBE 381 guitar preamp - with built in Sonic Maximizer
this unit has a guitar (or bassguitar) input 1/4" unbalanced low-Z input. it has two channels: a clean one and a distortion channel: clean channel
* volume
* bass
* mid
* treble
distortion channel
* drive (distortion) * bass * low mid * high mid * treble * volume then there is a rotary button with the "BBE PROCES", this is the built in sonic maximizer which makes your signal alot more bright, crisp and gives more bottom end, real FAT sound on distortion guitar!
and then you have the main volume outputs, on rotary button for Left and one for Right.
the clean channel sounds like it should: clean, no annoying noises or hissing, decent sound.
the distortion channel has alot of control, the Drive itsself can get real dirty if used extremely, thats what i like!
the lowmid and highmid give alot of control over the sound, i was able to get real metal sounds and less harsh bluesy sounds.
the 381 has a stereo ouput with 1/4" balanced jacks, these RECORDING outputs have built in speaker emulation, if you connect these outputs to your mixer, computer, headphone amp, hifi, then the sound will be "fat", its enhanced so it sounds a bit like if you put an amp in front of your speaker.
the main outputs carry the normal signal that goes to your guitar amp or directly to your speakers.
this sounds a bit "thinner" if you connect this directly to a mixer or computer.
there also is an Effects-loop, its possible to attach a reverb,delay,chorus,whatever to this preamp, the signal comes after the BBE sonic maximizer so you can send a nicely enhanced signal to your reverb for optimal results.
and finally there is a footswitch input, so you can connect any switch-pedal to jump from the clean channel to the distortion.
unit works on 110volt, 220-110 volt transo is NOT included, but i can sell one for 10. manual is NOT included but can be downloaded.
unit works perfect, has some scratches but this does not affect the sound in any way.
price: 140 or (+ transfo:= 150 euro)
